The human brain does not understand the concept of negatives. No and don't are vague terms to it. What does that mean? Let us experiment.
Do not think about a neon-pink dinosaur as you read through this post.
What is happening in your mind's eye? What is the voice in your mind focussing on?
What happens in your everyday life when you ask yourselves to not worry, not think about the calories in that chocolate cake, not look at the perceived flaws in your hair and face?
You only end up thinking about them more, sometimes throughout the day, sometimes till a point where the 'thought' has now turned into 'stress'.
Rewire your beliefs and the voice in your head to negate the negative.
Instead of giving any attention to what is not wanted or not good, flip the focus to what you do want to be
an outcome. If you focus on the burgers and the sugars, you will desire more of those, and your brain will make you execute that desire. Similarly, if you think about a salad, going for a walk, working on just the first step of that project that is worrying you, your brain will generate executive actions towards those.
It is kind of like the Instagram algorithm, if you think about it. It shows you more of what you engage with. Or perhaps, the algorithm is designed to hack our brains? So, why don't you do the same. Hack your own minds!
